Shawmut Avenue Baptist Church is dedicated.

Originally the Suffolk Street Chapel, it located at the corner of Shawmut Avenue and Rutland Street. The building is purchased in 1859 by the Baptist congregation, which merges with The First Baptist Church in Boston at this location (fifth) in 1877. It moves to its current location (sixth) in the Back Bay in 1882.*
